<text>The Devil’s Snare is a dangerous plant composed of many tendrils and vines that can strangle any who touch them. Struggling or resistance only increases the amount of constriction. Due to its fatal properties, it has been used to protect valuable objects. Preferring dark and damp environments, the Devil’s Snare hates sunlight, and so the "Lumos Solem" spell can be used against it; however, remaining calm is another way of dealing with the plant’s grip if a witch or wizard is trapped in its grasp.

The Devil’s Snare is not particularly common, but it is a part of the Hogwarts curriculum for first-year students. It should also be noted that the Devil‘s Snare resembles the Flitterbloom, which is a much more benign plant. </text>
