On the 35th day of the government shutdown, the longest in American history, President Trump announces a deal to reopen the federal government for three weeks until Feb. 15. The deal does not include funding for a wall on the border with Mexico.

On December 23, 2018, Donald Trump sent a tweet communicating the necessity for a good "old fashioned wall" for border control.
