The first sighting of the Loveland Frog was said to be in 1955 along the Little Miami River in Ohio. A man claimed to see three humanoid frog-like creatures waving sparkling wands over their heads. Another sighting by a Loveland police officer occurred in 1972, where he saw a three- to four-foot tall frog-like creature standing on the side of the river.
