Moby-Dick; or, The Whale is an American novel of nautical adventure. Originally published in 1851, the narrative follows the crew of a whaling vessel and their enigmatic leader, Captain Ahab, in their pursuit to hunt a mysterious, all-white whale named Moby-Dick. The novel is considered a classic of nineteenth century American literature.
