One of the most infamous wengido cases was that of a Cree man named Swift Runner who reportedly killed and cannibalized 9 members of his family in the winter of 1878. Other versions of the legend describe an icy creature that eats human flesh with "a face blackened by frostbite and missing lips and cheeks because it chewed them off in its hunger for human flesh."</text>
