<p>Yuki Midorikawa (緑川ゆき) is a Japanese manga artist born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1976. She began drawing manga as an elementary school student and first submitted work to <em>Hana to Yume</em> during high school. She won the 18th LaLa Manga Grand Prix Fresh Debut award in 1998 for her short story <em>Coffee Hirari</em>, launching a career in shōjo manga published primarily in Hakusensha's <em>LaLa</em> and <em>LaLa DX</em>.</p>
<p>Her two most successful works are <em>Hotarubi no Mori e</em>, a one-shot manga which received a film adaptation, and <a target="_blank" class="text-primary underline" href="https://lis5472.cci.fsu.edu/sp26/group6/items/show/2" rel="noopener">Natsume's Book of Friends</a>, an ongoing work which has been adapted into many other formats. The story follows a teenage boy who inherits a book of spirit names from his grandmother and slowly learns to navigate the boundary between the human and supernatural worlds. It was adapted into a seven-season anime (2008–2024) and two theatrical films, and was nominated for the first Manga Taisho award in 2008.</p>
