Frequently Asked Questions

F.A.Q.

Q: How can I add a location or suggest something to the digital library?

Please contact us at our Contact Us page for suggestions on places to add to collection. From there, our team will assess the location before bringing it to our collection developer to be added to the collection.

Q: What are tags?

Tags are keywords or phrases that describe a piece of data. They are non-hierarchical labels that classify your content so that it is easily found and will help in searching.

Q: How do I search tags?

To search tags, click on "Browse Items" on the left-hand side navigation bar. Then, when it brings you to that page, you can click on "Browse by Tags" in between "Browse All" and "Search Items" on the center tab. From there you can click on any of the tags that you are interested in to look at items with that tag.

Q: Are these images restricted or copyrighted?

The copyright permissions belong to the creator of the image. Unless stated otherwise, most items are free to share and adapt for noncommercial use as long as proper credit is given to the creator.

Q: How do I perform an advanced search?

If you would like to perform an advanced search, simply click the ellipsis mark (...) next to the search icon in the navigation bar on the left-hand side of the website.

From there, you will have the option to change the query type:

  • Keyword
  • Boolean
  • Exact Match

You will also have the option to limit your results to:

  • Item
  • File
  • Collection
  • Simple Page

If you are still having issues with locating an item in our collection, please feel free to reach out to us at our Contact Us

Q: What should I do if I am not getting any search results?

Try spellchecking your search query, using common language for searches, or shorter search entries (i.e. "bread" instead of "baking bread"). If your search still returns no results, you can try browsing by item, tag or exhibit instead.
