- Plant Size: 4–8 ft tall by 3–6 ft wide
- Habitat: In many habitats, but usually shaded; most common on fence lines, thickets, and well-drained woodlands.
- Medicinal Uses: Southern fold remedy; berries, roots, and leaves steeped in a tea to treat dropsy, skin disorders, stomach disorders, and colic. he insect repellent properties of its terpenoid content (e.g. callicarpenal) are intriguing and potentially comparable to DEET (Cantrell et al. 2005; Cantrell & Klun 2011).
