The Latin American Surrealist Digital Library explores how the Surrealist movement was seen and expressed in Latin America. It focuses on the beginning of the 20th century - and specifically between the 1920s and 1950s - due to the variety of styles and artists that created works in alignment with the movement.

The Digital Library contains 4 digital image collections of Surrealist works. Each collection is named in accordance with the region the work and/or artist is associated with. This includes: North and Central America, the Caribbean, South America, and the Iberian Peninsula. There are over 20 artists and 12 countries represented across all 4 collections.

How to find works:

  • Browse all available works under Items.

  • View works by region under Collections or on the Map

  • Browse works using Tags for artist name, country, and work type.

  • Use the Search options.
