Description
This image shows two Barred Owls perched on a tree branch at the Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, Polk County, Florida.
Originally a bird of the east, the Barred Owl moved outward during the 20th century through the Pacific Northwest and southward into California. These birds do not migrate and don't tend to move from one location very often. Barred Owls are characterized by their mottled brown and white feathering and dark brown, almost black, eyes.
