Liyuan Library
The LiYuan Library is located in the village of Huairou, about 2 hours from the center of Beijing. The library was designed as a place for serenity, blending it in with the nature that surrounds it. The library is built on a slope, which makes the entrance of the library dark and small. Once inside and through the darkness, the library opens up to a room of windows, fashioned around book shelves and cubbies. The library was designed by Li Xiaodong Atelier and built in 2011.
