Title
Ozark Howler
Subject
Cryptid of North America
Description
The Ozark Howler is reported to have been seen in the Ozark Mountain regions of Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. The Howler is typically described as a black colored, bear-like, stocky creature, with glowing red eyes, and prominently long horns. It's call is described as the combination of a wolf's howl, an elk's bugle, and the laugh of a hyena.
The earliest known legend of the Ozark Howler is it's infamous encounter with Daniel Boone in Missouri in the early 1800s. Reportedly, Boone fired his shotgun at the creature, though there is no evidence the animal was actually wounded or killed.
