Bombay
History The bombay was bred in the 1960's in Tennessee by combining a Burmese with a black American Shorthair cat.
Temperment Bombays are highly social, curious cats who crave attention. They typically remain active and playful for most of their lives. Bombays are known to be extremely vocal. These eccentric cats will be a charming addition to your home!
Size Medium size, muscular build
Appearance The most distinctive features of the Bombay is its sleek, glossy black coat. Unlike other black cats, Bombays are almost always entirely black with no white spots or white whiskers. The Burmese's large head combined with the Shorthair's sleek, black coat make the Bombay strikingly resemble a panther.
Things to Consider Because Bombays are highly social, these cats may not be best for households where owners are out of the home for extended periods. However, Bombays are recognized as an excellent companion for children due to their energetic, affectionate nature. Bombays also do not require much grooming and typically do not shed much.
Health Concerns These black beauties are known to live well into their late teens. Minor health concerns include sinus problems, stuffy noses, and Gingivitis.
